Jean Edith Cole

Partly you've been crying out,
Partly you've been lying still;
Always you've moved time about,
Moulding it to suit your will.

It began when Death appeared -
You went quickly, then so slow.
Beauty of the nurse that cared -
Stranger love I didn't know.

Six years on and here I am
Turning where I've never dared,
Just a six years older man
Now a little more prepared.
