remembering bloodshed and tears for the fallen;
the Captain’s raised arm was a sign to the infantry.
Wait for the salvo (and
cover your ears).
We were chilled, soaked, exhausted and cursing all
life
as we stood to attention (the ones who could stand)
and we waited for orders from Them Up On High;
“O.K men, are we ready to
sally the enemy?” Guess the reply.
