What New?

What new territory is this
that lets me feel every fibre of my clothes,
swamped, conscious of scalp on skull,
how it sits and slides, loose
with soggy glue?

What new country is this
which looks like every other day,
brighter maybe, buildings scattered
as I knew them but emboldened
with a greater shimmer?

What new man am I
who walks, sweats, sees this world
every few seconds, shuttered,
the blanks filled by tidy cool memories
of Winter, youth, school?
